Rob and Abbie got married in the heart of Bronte country, just a stones throw from where the sisters penned many of their famous literary works, at Haworth church. The church is at the top of the beautiful cobbled high street and makes for a stunning setting with views over the surrounding moorland.
Unfortunately, the weather meant that these views were in short supply, but Abbie and Rob and didn’t let the rain spoil their day and I found everyone in fine spirits when I arrived at Abbie’s parents house in Wilsden first thing for bridal prep shots. I quickly spotted a black and white photo on the wall of Abbie’s sister on her wedding day being hugged by her mum and whilst I don’t often stage shots at a wedding, we couldn’t resist recreating this moment with Abbie and her mum.
The bridal party then made their way onto Haworth, which Abbie and Rob have made their home with their 3-year son Leo (who is just the most adorable little chappy!), for the marriage ceremony. After a quick shot of the couple with Leo at the top of Haworth high street (imagine the glorious views in the background!), it was back into the cars and onto the Devonshire Arms hotel which is part of the Bolton Abbey estate in the Yorkshire Dales National Park for the wedding reception. It was lovely to see how much love there is for this young family and the speeches paid tribute to the wonderful home they have set-up for themselves and Leo.
Whilst I managed to get some shots of the couple around the hotel, I know they were disappointed that we weren’t able to make more of Haworth’s beautiful setting on the day due to the weather. Therefore, I suggested we meet up again for a post-wedding shoot and a few weeks after the wedding, during a spell of fine weather, Abbie and Rob donned their frocks (or suit!) once again and met me in Haworth for some stunning shots of them both at sunset. Worth it, I think!
