I'm sure Sandburn Hall just outside York must have been built with photographers in mind. The big floor to ceiling window in the main function room not only offers fantastic views over the golf course and lake, but let's in lots of natural light, which makes shooting a wedding there a photographers dream. The oak framed interior also means there are lots of opportunities to shoot indoors if the weather is not on your side (see Chris & Aimee's wedding). However, there was no such worry for Emma & Carl on their wedding day and we were able to make full use of Sandburn Hall's gardens, lakes and woodlands for some stunning pics outside.
The day started at Wavelengths salon in York and then on St Edward the Confessor RC church. Restrictions inside the church meant that I wasn't able to get to the front to photograph the ceremony, which is always a shame, but it does mean I can get some nice shots from the back of the church looking down the aisle (not always possible without a second shooter) and reaction shots of the guests. The wedding party then moved onto Sandburn Hall where everyone was looked after by the very professional staff there who always make sure proceedings run smoothly and without any fuss.
Thank you to Emma and Carl for allowing me to share their special day with them. It was great getting to know them and their very lovely family (especially their two adorable girls!) and I hope they have a wonderful honeymoon in Cyprus.
